Tips for Losing Weight With Fat Burning Cardio

Cardio workouts are a fantastic way of getting into shape and losing weight. It should be a stable part of any training program and is a highly recommended way of shedding pounds. There seems to be a bit of a battle of opinions in recent years about fat burning cardio vs high intensity anaerobic exercises, so lets take a quick look at the advantages of BOTH types.

Fat Burning

When exercising at high intensity yes its true you will burn more calories than with a cardio workout, (not all that much more however!) but cardio is designed to strengthen your heart and increase endurance, hence it should be the core of any fitness program for weight loss. Both types of training are recommended because of the variation in benefits for your body, so the advice is to mix it up to involve a bit of everything.

TIPS.

1. If you are a beginner stick to around 20 minute workouts 3 days a week and build up gradually.

2. Mix up your workouts, of the 3 days a week, do one low intensity cardio, one medium intensity and the other at high intensity. This will help you reap maximum benefits from your routine

3. ALWAYS warm up first! Your muscles will be ready and you run less risk of injuring yourself.

4. Make sure you drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

5. Make time for a "warm-down" period after your workout. Warm downs are crucial in avoiding injury, and nobody likes that feeling of being "seized up".
